Terms of use
Last updated October 16, 2026.
The short version
- fishing.mcbflow.com is a free personal fishing log. Use it for your own fishing records.
- Your data lives on your device. Back it up, because I can’t recover it.
- It does not give legal, safety or professional advice. You are responsible for following fishing laws and staying safe.
What this is
fishing.mcbflow.com is a free web app, run by an individual, for logging catches, trips and spots. By using it, you agree to these terms. If you don’t agree, please don’t use it.
Fishing rules and safety are on you
- The app records what you enter. It does not know fishing laws and does not check licenses, seasons, size or bag limits, closed waters or private property. Check the rules from your state’s wildlife or fisheries agency before you fish or keep a fish.
- Weather, moon phase and “patterns” in Stats are informational snapshots from free sources and simple counts of your own entries. Don’t use them for safety decisions on the water, on ice or at sea.
- Species names are whatever you pick or type. The app doesn’t identify fish.
Your data
- Everything you enter is yours. It is stored in your browser on your device, and it is not sent to me.
- Browsers can lose stored data (clearing site data, storage limits, a new device). Use the backup tools under Data in the top bar (or Settings → Backup & data), and keep backup files somewhere private.
- Because I don’t have a copy, I can’t restore lost data.
- See the Privacy page for what the app stores and which free outside services it contacts.
Please don’t
- Use the app to break the law, including fishing rules, or to harass or endanger anyone.
- Try to disrupt the site, or send automated or bulk requests through the app to the free services it relies on (maps, weather, place search).
- Enter other people’s private information or highly sensitive information such as passwords or ID numbers. The app does not encrypt your entries.
- Copy, resell or pass off the app, its name or its design as your own.
Outside services
Maps, weather and place search come from free third-party services. They are subject to their own terms, can change or stop at any time, and need an internet connection. Logging, photos and stats keep working without them.
Ownership
The app, its name and its design belong to its owner. Third-party parts keep their own licenses, listed under Credits. You own your entries and photos. The app has no public posting, comments or sharing features, so it does not host content from other people.
Changes and availability
The app is free and provided as it is. I may change it, add or remove features, or shut it down at any time, and it may sometimes be unavailable. I may update these terms. The date above shows the latest version, and continuing to use the app means you accept the updated terms.
No warranties and limits on liability
The app is provided “as is” and “as available,” without promises that it will be accurate, uninterrupted, error-free or that your data will be preserved. To the extent the law allows, I am not liable for lost data, a missed catch or any indirect or consequential loss from using the app. Some places don’t allow these limits, so they may not apply to you, and nothing here limits rights you have by law.
Children
The app is a general fishing log and is not designed for children. Younger anglers should use it with a parent or guardian. See Privacy.
These terms are plain-language and not legal advice.
